Shifters MusicWeasly watched the dancers move, the patterns of the feet and rhythm of the music. The power began to swell, the musicians oblivious to the power they were calling, too long used to ignoring its pull in an effort to play the notes. To night, they were on fire, and knew it. All of them swaying with the notes they played from pipes and drums and strings. The dancers circling, promenading, dancing in the old patterns, perfectly done. Weasly stood off to the side, eyes closed, listening to the flow of the power under her. The ancient dance performed by those who didn't know its origins, its importance to Weasly's people.  Her father had told Shifters Music

Dance With MeSomeday she would be free, but that was not to be today. Her dreams lay on the sofa in the form of an exam with more red on it than could ever be redeemed. Finals and she had failed.  
 
Tears pricked at her eyes. "And what of me now?" she thought as she lay down on her bed. "I am done for now. This is the bottom and there is no more climbing. I lost the ladder."   
"Damn," she cursed. She turned toward her stereo and flicked the switch, looking for her station. She found it and a slow song was playing about love and loss, all the usual. It didn't help any.
